Amazon’s new Perth site nears completion

Amazon Australia is eagerly anticipating the opening of its purpose-built fulfilment centre (FC) in Perth, which is nearing completion and is set to commence operations later this year. This new facility, located within the Jandakot Airport Commercial Precinct, promises to revolutionise Amazon’s operational capabilities in Western Australia.

Spanning an impressive 20,000 square meters, the forthcoming fulfilment centre is more than double the size of Amazon’s existing site near Perth Airport, which it will eventually replace. The increased space will allow Amazon to significantly expand its storage capacity, accommodating over three million items available on Amazon.com.au.

This development will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of local small and medium-sized businesses by providing them with enhanced storage solutions.

“We are investing significantly in our Perth operations as part of our ongoing commitment to improve selection and delivery outcomes for customers throughout the state,” says Amazon Australia Director of Operations Mindy Espidio-Garcia.

“Many Prime members in greater Perth will have already enjoyed free next day delivery from Amazon and the opening of this site will increase the selection of items that can be shipped to local customers quickly.”

With the ability to house a vast array of products, ranging from electronics and household goods to fashion and beauty products, the fulfilment centre will serve as a strategic hub for Amazon’s operations in Perth.

The facility will leverage cutting-edge technology and automated systems to optimise inventory management, order processing, and shipping operations.

More than 200 jobs will be based at the new FC once fully operational. This includes around 100 new job opportunities, in addition to roles filled by existing workers transferring to the new facility. Amazon has a strong commitment to job creation and intends to employ a diverse workforce to meet the demands of this expansive facility.

As the completion date draws near, anticipation is building among sellers, customers, and the wider community in Perth. The forthcoming fulfilment centre is poised to be a game-changer for Amazon Australia, bolstering its position as a leading e-commerce platform and driving economic growth in Western Australia.
