Featured Leaders 2022: Strengthening Australia’s supply chain sector

Share

Every year, Supply Chain Channel sits down with leaders within the supply chain space to talk about their expertise, experiences and insights within their industry. For this year, our Featured Leaders come from the areas of supply chain management, logistics and manufacturing.

Logistics

According to a 2020 Labourforce study, it is projected that the amount of work required in transporting freight on our roads will double by 2030. However, the industry is facing a perfect storm in the supply of truck drivers, making it more critical than ever to get ahead of this challenge.

Geoffroy Henry is the Founder and CEO of Ofload, a digital platform for road freight dedicated to achieve zero waste in trucking by empowering the long tail of small to medium-sized carriers through technology.

SCC talked to Geoff about the biggest factors contributing to the shortage and what the industry has to do to solve the problem.

Supply Chain Management

Reto Fuhrer is the CEO and Founder of RFSCE, a supply chain consultancy with a vision to strengthen the overall supply chain function for Australian organisations.

In his interview, Reto touches on supply chain planning as a classic example of where only a combination of all the elements of “People, Process and Technology” come together to bring businesses meaningful success.

Manufacturing

Simith Nambiar is a technology enthusiast with extensive experience in conceptualisation, development and deployment of digital and IoT (Internet of Things) products. His areas of expertise include digital transformation, product management, quick prototyping and application design & development.

Before joining Rackspace, Simith was the Senior IoT Solutions Architect – Professional Services at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Singapore, as well as Solutions Analyst, Smart Homes and IoT at Swann Communications in Melbourne.

In his interview, Simith discusses how manufacturers can implement practical solutions using emerging tech to drive better results in their factory operations.

This year, SCC’s Featured Leaders came from different industries, but the challenges and learnings they’ve shared seem to overlap. There is a definite need for growth and improvement within the sector, particularly in embracing technology and addressing the worsening skills shortage to strengthen the nation’s supply chain.

We will be bringing in more leaders for our Featured Leader section next year. For a complete and updated list, check out our Featured Leader page.
