Transport Minister Rita Saffioti has announced that Megan McCracken will be appointed the new Chair of the Freight and Logistics Council of WA, starting August this year.
McCracken brings extensive knowledge to the role from her three decades of experience in the resources, automotive, energy and rail industries in Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
She has served on several boards and committees in the freight and logistics industry and since 2017 has Chaired the Board of the National Association of Women in Operations.
In a media release, outgoing Chair of the Freight and Logistics Council of WA, Nicole Lockwood, has welcomed the announcement.
“It has been an honour to Chair the Freight and Logistics Council of WA for the last 5 years. During that time there has been a significant increase in the level of recognition of the role of the sector by the Government and the Community,” Lockwood said.
“It was a privilege to work with Federal Government on the development of the National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy and with the Western Australian Government on several key freight initiatives. It has also been an honour to work collaboratively with the council members from both industry and government to achieve these outcomes,” she said.
Lockwood also welcomed McCraken on her latest appointment.
“Megan brings a depth of logistics knowledge and experience and a broad national network,” Lockwood said.
“She is an experienced Non-Executive Director and Executive Coach with over 30 years’ experience as a leader in operational businesses across WA, Victoria and NSW in the mining, transport & logistics, and energy industries with almost a decade at executive level. Megan and I look forward to working together over the coming months to transition the role,” she said.
The Freight and Logistics Council of WA was established in March 2009 and meets bi-monthly to discuss and progress issues of strategic importance to the State’s freight and logistics activities.
