Let’s get to know our IBP Strategy Clinic Speaker, Russell Korth. He is the IBP Program Manager APAC of Medtronic. He will also give an overview of his session; Case Study: Applying IBP to a global, matrixed organisation.
What inspires you to be part of the supply chain sector?
I am always humbled in being able to play a part in fulfilling our Medtronic Mission, to Alleviate Pain, Restore Health, and Extend Life. Specifically in Supply Chain, I am able to play a role in bringing our life-saving technologies to market.
What is the key theme you want people to talk away from your talk?
IBP implementations are difficult, and even more so in large, matrixed organisations. With the right approach, you can make your implementation successful, even in the most complex environments.
Can you please give us a brief preview of your talk/panel discussion?
By attending my session, you will hear how using a structured approach with strong governance can lead to a successful IBP implementation, even in the largest, most complex organisations. I will take the audience through the challenges of working in the matrix, how to adapt IBP to your particular organisations needs, and also share the benefits of applying a staged approach to your IBP roll-out.
What’s the best lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
Every role you fill, always identify key individuals who will act as advocates for your success within the organisation. In large organisations, this may not always be your direct line manager. If you are a strong business partner to your internal customers, you will increase your personal brand and be well positioned for success and advancement.
What advice can you give to those who are looking at a career in Supply Chain?
Be prepared to be flexible and responsive, as supply chains can be very dynamic. If you are a proactive problem solver, and able to offer solutions to the business, you can be recognized and rewarded for the expertise you bring.
