Woolworths says New Zealand’s Countdown Supermarkets will rebrand itself from mid-2024 onwards as Woolworths Stores New Zealand as it commits to long-haul responsibilities with its sped-up change program.
An investment of more than $400 million over the course of the following three years would see the brand change, an emphasis on older stores across Aotearoa, and another devotional program called Everyday Rewards.
Managing Director of Countdown and Woolworths Group New Zealand, Spencer Sonn, says the store retailer has been striving to improve as a business and accomplish other things to address clients’ issues and assumptions, and right now is an ideal opportunity to speed up that change.
“Having had the privilege of leading the New Zealand team for over two years now, I know there’s a lot that people love about what we do, and none of that will be going away,” said Sonn.
Also, clients will see more helpful web-based business shopping choices, a more profound association with grassroots community area exercises, and a further obligation to finish top-quality fruit and vegetables with a cutting-edge Christchurch Fresh Distribution Centre opening in 2024. This will supplement the Auckland New Circulation Community, which opened in 2022.
“But our ambition is to be the best, and to do this, we know we need to be a better place to shop, better to work for and all-round better for Aotearoa’s tomorrow,” said Sonn.
Sonn said it was improving – and changing its name to Woolworths was essential for that.
“In the coming months and years, you’re going to see us bringing the best of the Woolworths brand across the Tasman and equally sharing the best of what we have here with the broader Woolworths Group,” said Sonn.
Individual changes to the signage at Countdown supermarkets throughout New Zealand will begin in the coming months, with the entire network scheduled for the next few years.
