The Queensland Government is proud to announce the opening of a new advanced recycling facility in Brisbane, aimed at significantly boosting the state’s recycling capabilities and driving sustainable innovation.

Minister for the Environment and the Great Barrier Reef, Meaghan Scanlon, highlighted the importance of the new facility, stating, “This cutting-edge recycling facility represents a significant step forward in our efforts to enhance recycling practices across Queensland. It will not only improve our recycling rates but also create jobs and foster a greener future for all Queenslanders.”

The facility, which has been designed with advanced technology to handle a diverse range of materials, is expected to process up to 150,000 tonnes of waste annually. It will focus on recycling plastics, metals, and paper, which will contribute to reducing landfill waste and minimising environmental impact.

Local Member for Brisbane Central, James Martin, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “This new facility is a fantastic addition to our community. It demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and will provide valuable support for our local economy through job creation and environmental stewardship.”

The project has been supported by a substantial investment from the Queensland Government, which has prioritised environmental sustainability as a key focus. The facility will incorporate innovative technologies and practices to ensure efficient and effective recycling processes.

In addition to its environmental benefits, the new facility is expected to create around 100 jobs in the local area, further boosting the region’s economy. The Queensland Government is committed to investing in projects that deliver both environmental and economic advantages for the state.

Minister Scanlon concluded, “We are excited to see the positive impacts this facility will have on our community and environment. It is a significant achievement in our ongoing journey towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly Queensland.”
