A new TAFE NSW Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence is set to be built at Wetherill Park, thanks to a $53.95 million investment from both the Albanese and Minns Governments.

This state-of-the-art facility aims to provide cutting-edge training in key industries such as engineering, transport, and renewable energy, helping address the increasing demand for skilled workers.

Premier Chris Minns highlighted the centre’s vital role in ensuring New South Wales remains competitive in the global manufacturing industry. “We need to make sure we’re producing the highly skilled workers our industries require,” he said.

Equipped with the latest technology, the centre will offer specialised courses and micro-credentials, partnering with local businesses and universities to provide hands-on experience and advanced skills development.

The investment aligns with Australia’s broader strategy to enhance sovereign manufacturing capabilities, especially in critical sectors such as defence and renewables. Federal Minister for Skills and Training Brendan O’Connor underscored the importance of the centre in preparing Australians for future job markets.

The new facility is expected to bolster the region’s economy and contribute to the growth of Australia’s manufacturing sector, as it tackles the skilled labour shortage across various industries. The project is part of a wider effort to create more training opportunities and future-proof the workforce.

This development is also aligned with the push towards sustainable manufacturing, ensuring New South Wales continues to advance in technology-driven sectors.
