Toll Group has announced its further support on expanding international containerised freight routes in the country.
The Australian logistics giant has recently established a commercial container shipping route that transports cargo directly from Singapore to Dampier in the state’s north.
This allows operators and suppliers in remote parts of North-West Australia to move materials and goods to and from Singapore for a fraction of the time and cost of the usual supply chain channels.
With this, importers and exporters will have better access to international markets and more efficient ways to move freight, said Toll in a statement.
The solution provides access to the Toll Dampier Supply Base, with its established quarantine facilities and Approved Arrangement in place to accommodate commodity importation.
Toll Group General Manager Upstream Oil and Gas in Global Logistics Energy, Chris Trowbridge, said the route provides advantages to the nation’s supply chain.
“This service allows direct entry of material and freight to Dampier, reducing the double and triple handling of freight out of Perth, simplifying and re-risking the supply chain,” Trowbridge said.
Toll also provides a global network with offshore bases and logistics sites across the Asia Pacific, Europe and America, linking supply chains across multiple geographies.
After acquiring the Dampier Supply Base in 2017, Toll said it has continued to invest in reinvigorating and upgrading the facility.
