Minister Johnston conveyed that the proposal to present regulations concerning the capacity and transport of ozone-depleting substances is only one of a few measures being viewed by the state because of the difficulties presented by climate change.

“As part of this response, the Bill provides the legislative certainty to encourage greenhouse gas storage projects and the development of the industry,” Johnston said.

An important consideration in the legislation is the accommodation of normally happening hydrogen as a regulated substance, mirroring a commitment to investigating and tackling elective energy sources.

This move positions Western Australia at the front of the evolving energy landscape, underlining the state’s devotion to sustainable practices.

Carbon capture use and storage, a vital part of the proposed legislation, includes the capture and storage of carbon dioxide, offering an essential way to deal with diminishing emissions from the enormous scope of industrial processes and projects.

This strategy is acquiring prominence all around the world as ventures look for compelling ways of carbonising activities, especially those considered hard to decrease.

“As part of this response, the Bill provides the legislative certainty to encourage greenhouse gas storage projects and the development of the industry. Together, this amendment will assist Government and industry to progress towards the goal of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050,” Johnston added.
