Woolworths has unveiled a significant initiative aimed at easing the cost of living for Australian households, announcing price reductions on hundreds of everyday essentials.
Effective 28 August 2024, customers will benefit from lowered prices on a wide range of frequently purchased items, including pantry staples, fresh produce, and household products.
This move is part of Woolworths’ ongoing commitment to support its customers during challenging economic times. According to the company, the price drops will encompass over 400 products, with some items seeing reductions of up to 30%. The price cuts are set to remain in place for at least 12 weeks, providing sustained relief for shoppers.
Paul Harker, Woolworths Chief Commercial Officer, emphasised that this initiative is designed to help families manage their grocery bills amidst rising living costs. He highlighted that Woolworths is working closely with suppliers to ensure the price reductions do not compromise the quality or availability of the affected products.
In addition to the price drops, Woolworths has committed to maintaining everyday low prices across a broader range of products. This approach reflects the retailer’s strategy of offering value to customers, particularly during periods of economic uncertainty.
Woolworths’ decision to implement these price cuts follows similar moves by other major retailers, as competition in the grocery sector intensifies. With this latest initiative, Woolworths aims to strengthen its position as a leading provider of affordable groceries in Australia.
