Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint have released a range of limited-edition 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic $2 coins.
From the 17th of July, Woolworths customers paying in cash will be able to collect four $2 coins in their change. One design will be released every two weeks into the cash tills across eight weeks.
These four coins will be available to customers: Community a pillar of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) combined with the AOC logo. Allezaus combines the popular European sports chant ‘allez’ meaning ‘let’s go’, with the team mascot (BK, the kangaroo) breakdancing – a new sport at Paris 2024. Olympism embraces the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect, this coin features the word ‘Olympism’ and a Parisian Boxing Kangaroo, the official team mascot and Paralympics featuring the team mascot Lizzie, playing the Paralympic sport of Goalball, this coin celebrates the achievements of Australia’s Paralympic athletes.
“We have a long and proud partnership with the Royal Australian Mint in helping our customers show their support for major sporting events and cultural milestones through coin collections,” said Woolworths Group Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Hicks.
“These limited-edition coins are just one of the many ways Woolworths, as the official fresh food partner of the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams, is helping customers show their support for our athletes as they compete in Paris.”
The release follows previous coin collections between Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint including the Commbank Matildas, Vegemite centenary, 2022 Australian Commonwealth Games, and The Wiggles.
