About the Role

The Buying Specialist role is a part of a newly formed Strategic Sourcing Chapter that is responsible for the maintenance of and growth of our contract packing and B2B operations in line with the Teams Strategic Sourcing goals and objectives while supporting the Groups Customer 1st strategic direction.

You will support Strategic Sourcing Manager(s) with executing their plans for growth and ongoing continuous improvement of this business. The role requires constant cross-team engagement with clear communication in a fast-paced environment.

Other key responsibilities

  • This role also includes an introduction to buying finished goods products (e.g. cheese, butter, olives). In this role, you will apply your experience in identifying supply, quality, systems, and risks to prevent financial impacts on our business.
  • With a high level of proactive customer service, you will ensure accuracy when processing orders and invoices in SAP as well as in the maintenance of contracts through various trackers.
  • Partner management – Engaging effectively with internal/external stakeholders. Timely and professional delivery of contracts inbound and outbound.
  • Month-end reporting and forecasting of these operations ensure we are meeting all legal and business milestones.
  • Mentor and encourage Team members to become conversant in our business.
  • Working with key service providers (internal/external) to ensure seamless delivery of the service/support provided by the Strategic Sourcing Team.

About You

You are currently an experienced Category Assistant or Replenishment Planner with prior experience in the field of replenishment or logistics.

You will demonstrate success working with large numbers of internal stakeholders to ensure alignment to strategy. A background in retail buying and/or operations is desirable but not essential.

  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • A can-do attitude in sometimes challenging agricultural commodity markets.
  • Integrity – acting ethically, having appropriate independence, putting the organisation’s interests before personal interest and effectively managing opinion and external/internal pressure without sacrificing integrity or process compliance – Food Safety Culture
  • The ability to work in an agile environment working cross-category and across various business pillars
  • Communication skills at all levels – Supplier / Customer / Internal
  • Demonstrate good business instinct and acumen and be able to use this in a variety of situations.
  • Able to prioritise, work under pressure, meet deadlines and provide guidance and support the stakeholder group through effective escalation and communication.
