The Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association has urged the federal government to unlock crucial funding from the National Reconstruction Fund to secure the future of Australia’s automotive industry.
The association argues that the NRF could support local manufacturers in adopting advanced technologies to remain competitive on the global stage.
AAAA CEO Stuart Charity emphasised that the NRF is vital for businesses to adapt to modern manufacturing techniques, especially in the aftermarket and modification sectors. “This is a critical moment for the industry’s future,” Charity said, urging immediate action to support economic resilience and safeguard jobs.
The AAAA’s call comes as the automotive industry faces increasing pressure from international competition and a rapidly changing technological landscape. The association believes that releasing these funds would not only help businesses modernise but also strengthen Australia’s standing in global automotive manufacturing.
With the automotive industry employing thousands of Australians and contributing significantly to the national economy, the AAAA stresses that timely government intervention is crucial to keeping local businesses afloat and competitive.
The association is advocating for a focused approach to ensure that the NRF can drive the next wave of innovation, particularly in the sectors of vehicle parts manufacturing, repairs, and aftermarket services. This would also bolster job creation and support Australia’s economic recovery by capitalising on the country’s manufacturing potential.
The AAAA continues to lobby the government for swift action, highlighting the long-term benefits of securing the automotive industry’s future through investment in technology and advanced manufacturing.
