Amazon Australia has formally opened its $70 million fulfilment centre (FC) in Jandakot, Perth, with the site extending its capacity limit in Western Australia (WA) by 500%.
“We’re thrilled to open our new purpose-built fulfilment centre in Perth, investing further in the state to grow our footprint and provide quality job opportunities,” Amazon Australia Country Manager Janet Menzies said.
The advanced site is located in the Jandakot Air terminal Commercial Precinct is over two times the size of the organisation’s past Perth Air terminal FC, which it has replaced, and extends to a different scope of open positions in an industry-leading work environment.
“Since we launched amazon.com.au, we’ve been committed to offering customers great value, wide selection and fast delivery, and this new fulfilment centre helps us deliver even more of this promise for customers in Western Australia,” Menzies said.
The office will develop production selection and further develop conveyance results for WA clients by expanding the extent of items that can be delivered straightforwardly from Perth to nearby residents.
“Many Perth Prime members have already experienced next-day delivery on Amazon orders, and our investment in this site will increase the selection of items that can be shipped directly to local customers more quickly,” Menzies added.
Spanning more than 20,000 sqm – around a similar size as the WACA Ground – the FC can house multiple million items sold on the amazon.com.au store, including little to medium items like well-being, household and personal care items, consumer hardware, clothing and storage room food and drink staples.
The site is home to over 225 jobs, including 125 jobs filled by existing colleagues who moved from the past site and over 100 new local jobs for the neighbourhood.
