The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) recently announced the Industry Sector winners of its annual APCO Awards held last Wednesday,18 November 2020.
The Industry Sector category, which is assessed based on member performance in their APCO Annual Report, recognises the highest performing APCO Member in each major industry sector.
In an interview with PKN publisher Linda Hughson, APCO Industry Partnership Manager announced the Industry Sector winners online before the virtual awards ceremony.
“The awards are measured by the Packaging Sustainability Framework, so every year APCO members are required to submit an annual report and the awards are reflected back by their scores and their reports,” Epp said.
“We have over 1,500 member organisations now and that spans across 153 different industry categories, so you’ll see with the awards we’ve had to break that down into about 12 different category awards,” she said.
Apart from the Industry Sector category, the 2020 APCO Awards also featured other award categories: the Outstanding Achievement Awards, which recognise the highest achieving members in critical delivery areas, the new Our Packaging Future Awards, which highlight innovation and leadership from members in sustainable packaging education, improved collection and recycling systems, and end-market development and APCO’s most prestigious Sustainability Packaging Excellence Award, which was awarded to plastics and chemicals manufacturer LyondellBasell.
Held virtually this year, the annual APCO Awards recognises and celebrates Australian organisations that are leading the way in sustainable packaging design and innovation.
