Engineering administrations group Babcock Australasia has authoritatively introduced the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS), providing activity, the executives and maintenance moves up to help critical tasks in Australia and abroad.

Strategic partners Lockheed Martin Australia, Ventia, and Ebor, in addition to cyber intelligence provider CyberCX and defence surveillance and electronics manufacturer Daronmont, collaborate with Babcock.

According to Brad Yelland, Managing Director of Mission and Support Systems for Babcock Australasia, the JP9101 contract makes Babcock the world’s largest supplier of strategic high-frequency communications.

“The importance of effective, reliable and resilient communication in the modern threat environment cannot be understated. The new system will provide the ADF and its allies with an enhanced communications capability with levels of reliability and operational resilience not seen before within this technology domain,” Yelland said.

According to a statement, the $877 million program is Babcock Australasia’s largest contract to date and will provide the Australian Defence Force with cutting-edge capabilities.

“Through Babcock, our service men and women will have the ability to securely communicate using voice and data to almost anywhere on Earth,” said Yelland.

Babcock’s Intelligent Network and Serial Protocol Interface for Radio Equipment (INSPIRE), which provides a step-change in ease of upgrade and re-configuration to ensure that Australia’s EDHFCS remains up to date, are at the centre of the solution.

More than 150 high-tech jobs are being created across Australia as a result of the project, the majority of which are in Adelaide at Babcock’s brand-new Keswick office. Staff will likewise be arranged across provincial focuses including Exmouth, Wagga, Townsville, and Darwin, as well as help offices in CBR to an assertion.

Mike Trenery, Babcock Australasia’s Program Director for High Frequency Communications programs, was recently added to the team as a boost to the program.

Trenery has worked for the Department of Defense for more than 30 years on a variety of strategic and challenging maritime and communications programs.
