Vanderlande has announced that Bonfix, a Dutch supplier of fittings for sanitary installations and central heating systems, selected its goods-to-person (GtP) order fulfilment solution Fastpick for its new distribution centre in Zwolle, The Netherlands.

Vaderlande’s Fastpick solution is based on the automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) Adapto.

The new Bonfix building, which is scheduled to start full operation in the first half of 2023, will provide the high-storage density the company needs to process large volumes of items and cope with its rapid growth.

“For us it’s all about customer satisfaction,” said Marcel R. van Buul, founder and owner of BONFIX.

“BONFIX has a strong reputation for the high level of service that we provide and our aim is to enhance this with the Vanderlande solution, van Buul said.

“We are confident that FASTPICK will enable us to continue supplying our customers with what they need – and when they need it.”

Fastpick delivers a high pick productivity as goods are transferred directly to operators by advanced Adapto shuttles.

According to Vanderlande, these shuttles can hold over 25,000 storage locations and has a capacity of 1,000 order lines an hour.

The company maintained that it is the ideal solution to help BONFIX deliver on time and in full to its customers, as it can handle orders with extremely short lead times and eliminate errors with its one-to-one picking process.

“It’s great to see that our FASTPICK solution is contributing to the growth ambitions of the family-owned company BONFIX,” said Terry Verkuijlen, Executive Vice President Warehouse Solutions at Vanderlande.

“This high-quality GtP system will enable the business to take a big step forward with its logistics services,” Verkuijlen said.

The Fastpick solution will allow Bonfix to expect maximum system availability, because the system has no single point of failure and shuttles can be maintained offline.

Bonfix warehouse operators are also set to benefit from the comfort of three highly ergonomic GtP workstations, while system performance and monitoring will be maintained by Vanderlande’s life-cycle services team, once the system is commissioned.
