The federal government is now conducting a consultation for the Supply Chain Resilience Initiative (SCRI) as part of its implementation.

The $107.2 million initiative was established as part of the government’s Modern Manufacturing Strategy, an approach to scale-up the manufacturing industry to drive economic recovery and future resilience in the country.

The SCRI is set to provide businesses with support to establish or scale capability that addresses a supply chain vulnerability andI will help Australia respond to any future supply chain disruptions.

In implementing the SCRI, the government is working with the industry to identify the essential goods and services critical to Australians at times of crisis, map industry supply chains and Australia’s manufacturing capabilities and evaluate supply chain resilience under normal circumstances and in possible crisis situations.

Feedback obtained from the consultation will be used to help understand the real and potential vulnerabilities in our supply chains for critical products and ways of addressing them.

The consultation closes on 11 December 2020.
