Western Australian small to medium enterprises in the agri-food sector are set to get huge development help with the launch of a transformative program by Australia’s national science agency CSIRO.

The Innovative to Grow: Agrifood program, conveyed as a team with the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, aims to catalyse agrifood advancement among new companies and SMEs in WA.

The agency stated in a news release that applications for the program are now open, providing businesses with a unique opportunity to revolutionise their approach to research and development in the agri-food sector.

Spreading over a sweeping agricultural landscape of 71 million hectares, Western Australia has a different exhibit of agricultural activities, going from broadacre farming to concentrated farming and hydroponics.

Perceiving the essential job of agribusinesses in the worldwide agrifood industry, CSIRO is welcoming groundbreaking enterprises to take part in this free 10-week online program.

Dr George Gala, CSIRO SME Connect deputy director, accentuated the transformative idea of the Innovate to Grow program.

“The program offers a transformative experience that not only fosters innovation but also educates businesses on the invaluable role of R&D in enhancing their overall business strategy.

Participants will gain insights into the significance of R&D, along with practical strategies to navigate and advance their ideas through the innovation pipeline. It’s a unique blend of education, mentorship, and tangible pathways to turn concepts into successful realities,” said Dr Feast.

“Innovate to Grow really made research accessible. Before the program, I thought there was no way that a tiny company like mine could work with CSIRO or a university. Now it has been demystified,” said the founder of Bestie Kitchen, Amanda Falconer.
