Deloitte selected on proposed AMTECH plan at Bunbury 

The Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub (AMTECH) plan with Deloitte is moving forward, according to the Western Australian government’s announcement.

The appointment is the next step in the plan to build a world-class hub in the Bunbury-Geographe area, which would give businesses in the area new opportunities. 

Appointed Chair of the SW AMTECH steering group, Clive Brown, said: “This announcement is an exciting step towards delivering an advanced manufacturing and technology hub for Bunbury and the wider region.” 

Market interest, feasibility, and engineering plan studies will likewise be done, alongside an intensive undertaking procedure, economic advantage investigation, and financial viability plan. 

“The State Government has identified technology and advanced manufacturing as a priority to further help diversify WA’s economy and create jobs,” Brown said. 

The proposal’s lead agency is the South West Development Commission, which collaborates directly with the consultant, the industry, and other stakeholders. 

Don Punch, Regional Development Minister, expressed his happiness at the progress being made in the planning process for the South West’s proposed Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub. 

“Regional Western Australia is the powerhouse of the State’s economy and deserves access to infrastructure, technology and training that unlocks opportunities for industry.  

This is another great example of industry and government working together with the aim of producing economic outcomes that will transform industry prospects and unlock business and quality job opportunities in the future,” Punch said. 

Planning efforts have included a preliminary assessment report to identify key focus areas following the industry consultation. 

The WA government claims that access to infrastructure, technology, training, and research at an AMTECH common-user facility would boost competitiveness.
