The Detmold Group, a food packaging-manufacturing company, has started to make the change to sustainable energy with the establishment of a solar panel system at its Regency Park facility.

“Supporting another great South Australian manufacturer to reduce its carbon emissions and hit its renewable energy targets is an incredibly proud moment for Tindo Solar,” CEO of Tindo Solar, Richard Petterson said.

Sascha Detmold Cox, CEO of the Detmold Group, said the new system is intended to keep 81 tons of carbon dioxide from being released every year and cut 35% of the site’s fossil fuel emissions every year.

“Every effort counts, and we’ll be increasing our use of renewables annually to not only meet or exceed our own sustainability targets but to contribute to global reductions,” Cox said

“Australian Manufacturers have a hard time, with offshore supply chains dominating our industry, it is vital that we also support local jobs and keep manufacturing jobs in Australia,” Petterson added.

As a component of its targets, the company has likewise dedicated itself to applying Sustainable Packaging Guidelines to its products by 2025 and redirecting 95% of waste from landfills across all production facilities.

Moreover, the organisation looks to guarantee that 80% of the fibre utilised will be forestry-certified or contain reused content.

“Using recycled or renewable materials, particularly in food packaging, is becoming a growing priority for consumers and businesses,” Detmold Cox said.

“The same applies to medical products and other packaging. We are working towards being a market leader in more than just packaging – it’s about how we manufacture our products and present them to markets here and internationally.”
