DHL Group announces name change to reflect global expansion

Deutsche Post DHL Group, the leading logistics company worldwide, revealed its plan today to change the company’s name to “DHL Group” effective July 1, 2023.

The decision to adopt the new name signifies the transformation the Group has undergone in recent years and emphasizes its focus on national and international logistics operations as a catalyst for future growth.

With over a decade of unprecedented global trends, including globalization, e-commerce, digitalization, and sustainability, positively impacting its business, DHL Group is now one of the most internationally recognized companies.

“Almost everywhere outside of Germany, we use only the DHL brand. The renaming to DHL Group follows on from this development and makes the focus of our business activities clearer to our customers and shareholders,” CEO Tobias Meyer expressed.

Currently, more than 90% of the Group’s revenue is generated by businesses operating under the DHL brand, including the DHL Parcel business.

While the Deutsche Post and DHL brands will continue to be utilized in Germany, the new name change does not diminish their importance.

“We are very proud of Deutsche Post’s tradition, its rich heritage, and history that stretches back to the 15th century. We will continue to use and cherish the Deutsche Post brand in joint branding with DHL and remain ‘The Post for Germany’,” Meyer said.

The various divisions within DHL will retain their current names, except for the DHL eCommerce Solutions division, which will be harmonized and simplified as “DHL eCommerce” starting from July 1, 2023, to create consistency across countries.

The renaming does not impact the service offerings of the divisions. DHL Group will continue to invest in and provide a comprehensive range of e-commerce logistics services, including inbound logistics, fulfillment, express delivery, parcel services, and returns.

In financial markets, the Group aims to position its global portfolio more effectively by changing the stock ticker from “DPW” to “DHL,” leveraging the strong brand recognition of DHL.

Importantly, this name change does not affect the legal entities within the Group, including Deutsche Post AG, nor does it alter any internal or external relationships.

Starting from July 1, 2023, DHL Group will adopt the new name in its communications and presentations both internally and externally. Physical asset rebranding will be implemented gradually to minimize additional costs.
