DHL and Formula 1® have joined forces once again to push the boundaries of sustainable logistics. In a new initiative for the current season, DHL is revolutionising its transportation fleet by introducing a groundbreaking biofuel-powered truck fleet. This innovative move aims to support Formula 1® in its ambitious target of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.

The collaboration will see the deployment of 18 trucks running on HVO100 drop-in fuel (hydrotreated vegetable oil). These vehicles will be responsible for delivering crucial logistics services at all European Formula 1® races throughout 2023.

By harnessing the power of biofuels, each truck in the fleet can significantly reduce carbon emissions by a minimum of 60% compared to conventional fuels. Moreover, these numbers have the potential to reach even higher levels of environmental impact in the future.

“Our partnership with Formula 1 also showcases our shared dedication to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. We consistently strive to make logistics more sustainable, and we are excited to introduce the inaugural fleet of trucks, running on a sustainable fuel this year,” says Deutsche Post DHL Group Head of Global Brand Marketing, Arjan Sissing.

“As an industry leader in green logistics, the 18 trucks further contribute to a lower emission DHL fleet, where we show to our fans and customers that it is possible to bring the excitement of Formula 1 races around the world in a sustainable way.”

DHL’s introduction of this eco-friendly truck fleet marks a major milestone in their commitment to sustainable practices. As one of the world’s leading logistics providers, DHL recognises the importance of minimising its carbon footprint and actively contributing to the preservation of our planet.

The decision to employ biofuel-powered trucks for Formula 1® logistics showcases the shared dedication of both DHL and Formula 1® towards environmental sustainability. By combining their expertise and resources, they are leading the way towards a greener future for the motorsport industry.

With this significant leap forward, DHL and Formula 1® demonstrate that sustainability and high-performance are not mutually exclusive. Through innovative solutions and strategic partnerships, they are propelling the industry towards a more eco-conscious and responsible era.

As the 2023 Formula 1® season unfolds, the biofuel-powered truck fleet will serve as a tangible reminder of the ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions and achieving Net Zero goals. DHL and Formula 1® are setting a new standard for sustainable logistics, inspiring other industries to follow suit and embrace greener alternatives.
