The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council has announced Marcus Geisler as its new CEO, following the retirement of Wendy Harris. Geisler, who has over 25 years of experience in waste management and resource recovery, previously held senior roles with Perth Waste and the Western Metropolitan Regional Council.
Cr. David McDonnell, EMRC Chairperson, expressed confidence in Geisler’s leadership. “Marcus’s industry experience and commitment to sustainability align perfectly with our vision for the future,” McDonnell said.
Geisler will focus on advancing sustainability initiatives, improving resource recovery, and promoting circular economy practices in the eastern Perth region.
Geisler also highlighted his excitement for the role, stating, “I’m thrilled to join the EMRC team and look forward to contributing to the development of sustainable, long-term solutions for our communities.”
The EMRC plays a crucial role in waste management, resource recovery, and environmental sustainability for Perth’s eastern suburbs, serving six member councils. This leadership change is expected to further drive regional innovation and environmental impact through improved services and sustainable initiatives.
Geisler will lead EMRC in its continued efforts to address challenges in waste management and resource recovery, bringing his vast industry knowledge to the forefront of the council’s operations. His appointment signals a strong future direction, focusing on key priorities such as environmental stewardship and creating a more sustainable region.
The EMRC is enthusiastic about the future under Geisler’s leadership, and he will begin his role with immediate effect.
This transition is set to guide the organisation through the next phase of growth and innovation, as the region continues to tackle evolving environmental challenges.
