LOGOS secures car parts giant at $300m Broadmeadows estate

Asia-Pacific logistics specialist LOGOS has secured GPC Asia Pacific, one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest automotive aftermarket parts and accessories suppliers, at its $300 million Broadmeadows Logistics Estate in Melbourne’s North.

GPC Asia Pacific has a network of over 550 stores across Australia and New Zealand, with brands including NAPA Auto Parts, Rare Spares, AMX, and McLeod’s.

The new GPC distribution centre will feature 39,000 sqm of high quality and efficient and integrated state-of-the-art-technology.

Construction is expected to begin in January 2022, with expected completion by Q1 2023.

LOGOS Head of Australia and New Zealand, Darren Searle, said that Broadmeadows Logistics Estate is a key property within their portfolio that services the growing northern Melbourne market.

“With a focus on supporting the core logistics sectors of e-commerce, distribution, food and cold storage, we are able to offer tenants with state of the art, sustainable logistics facilities and immediate access to Melbourne’s key transport networks through this Estate,” Searle said.

“We look forward to working with GPC Asia Pacific to deliver this important new facility and support their growth across Victoria,” he said.

The Broadmeadows Logistics Estate will comprise circa 127,000sqm of sustainable, warehouse space across its five total facilities and is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Communities rating, an Australian first for the industrial sector.

The 25-hectare site is also targeting a 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built ratings across all facilities.

GPC partnered with business transformation consultancy TMX on their regional Australia and New Zealand supply chain network strategy and operational design, with TMX assisting GPC in procuring their new sites and project managing the developments.

GPC Asia Pacific Executive General Manager Logistics, Jon Longbottom, said they were delighted to have secured a new facility at the LOGOS estate.

“As a business, we’ve experienced significant growth over the past three years and we look forward to integrating advanced technologies within a new state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne to improve our customers experience,” Longbottom said.

“By partnering with LOGOS and TMX, we have been able to race ahead with our ambitious growth plans with confidence,” he said.

TMX Director of Property, Sam Dellios also echoed the same comments, saying that TMX is proud be supporting GPC in their Australian supply chain network transformation.

“This new facility will offer an automated Goods-to-Person shuttle and Very Narrow Aisle storage system, which will boost cubic capacity across GPC’s wide product range and support their future growth strategy,” he said.

Broadmeadows Logistics Estate offers access to Melbourne’s key transport network, including the Western Ring Road, Tullamarine Freeway and the Hume Highway interchange, as well as the Victorian Government’s planned North East Link.

With 50% of the Estate being committed within the first 14 months, the remaining circa 65,900sqm of available space will be offered for both pre-lease and speculative flexible warehouses, ranging in size from circa 8,000sqm up to 58,000sqm.
