Manufacturing Skills Queensland appoints new CEO

Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) has announced the appointment of Rebecca Andrews as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective in July.

MSQ, an independent body supported by a $16.5 million investment from the Queensland Government over three years, is dedicated to driving the growth of the state’s manufacturing industry.

“I’m delighted to be appointed to the role of MSQ’s new CEO,” Andrews said.

“Sharing my experience and vision for leading MSQ’s strategic plans and programs, I will ensure we continue to attract, upskill, and reskill to grow a sustainable, inclusive and diverse workforce and business community that thrives today, and in the future.”

Andrews brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served in key leadership positions in the past. Her previous roles include Australian Industry Group Queensland State Head, Deputy Director-General of Small Business at the Department of Employment, Small Business, and Training, as well as membership on various boards and advisory groups, including the Ministerial Manufacturing Council.

Andrews will play a pivotal role in identifying the training and skills required by manufacturers and employees in Queensland.

She will work closely with the Energy and Jobs plan, prioritizing the development of skills and capabilities necessary to support the future of the manufacturing sector in the state.

MSQ was established and funded in November 2022 under the Queensland Government’s Making it in Queensland: Building a Stronger Manufacturing Sector policy. The organization’s primary objective is to build a sustainably skilled workforce that will contribute to a future-proofed manufacturing industry.

The appointment of Rebecca Andrews as CEO of MSQ signifies a strategic move towards advancing the manufacturing sector in Queensland.

With her extensive experience and expertise, Andrews is well-positioned to lead MSQ in its mission to develop a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the industry.
