MTPConnect spearheads biomedical manufacturing training in WA

MTPConnect takes the lead in enhancing Western Australia’s biomedical manufacturing capabilities through a newly secured funding boost from the state government.

The additional funding is poised to empower the state’s workforce with critical industry training programs to bolster biomedical manufacturing capacities.

MTPConnect will oversee the delivery of subsidised courses focusing on medical device quality management systems and Good Manufacturing Practice principles.

These courses will be conducted in collaboration with esteemed partners SeerPharma and the Centre for Biopharmaceutical Excellence.

Stuart Dignam, CEO of MTPConnect, emphasised the importance of these training initiatives, highlighting their continuity from previous successful programs rolled out both in Western Australia and nationwide.

“Medical science is rightly considered a priority sector of the Australian economy but achieving our ambitions in biomedical manufacturing depends on the workforce’s skills,” said Dignam.

“We are delighted to be working with the WA government to support additional workforce development in advanced manufacturing of medical products which will accelerate the growth of the state’s life sciences sector and power the creation of new jobs and economic diversification,” Dignam added.

Dignam reiterated the commitment to nurturing an industry-ready workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the life sciences sector.

“This is all part of our efforts to continue building an industry-ready workforce with the skills and capacity to keep pace with the demands of a rapidly changing life sciences sector – for now, and the immediate future,” Dignam said.

The funding allocation forms part of the WA Government’s broader commitment to implementing its Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy.

MTPConnect will oversee the coordination of these training initiatives through the WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub, a collaborative initiative involving MTPConnect, the Western Australian Government, and the University of Western Australia.
