NT leads advanced manufacturing for water quality in remote communities

The Northern Territory Government is leading a groundbreaking initiative to reinforce local businesses and employment opportunities through the Advanced Manufacturing Ecosystem Fund.

With the AMEF paving the way, manufacturing projects and investments are projected to yield more than 160 new positions and infuse more than $84 million into the Northern Territory economy inside the initial five-year time frame.

Water quality assessment in remote regions of the Northern Territory is set to go through a significant improvement, civility of a creative undertaking driven by a Darwin-based enterprise.

Collaborating with environmental technology firm Eco Detection and tank manufacturer Terracorp Industries, Think Water, headquartered in Coolalinga, is in charge of a groundbreaking venture to commercialise a water testing system.

This framework aims to address predominant water quality issues, including bacteria and heavy metal contamination, which afflicts north of 400 communities across Australia.

The cooperative exertion will incorporate Eco Detection’s award-winning Ion-Q+ monitor, a filtration system from Think Water capacity tanks manufactured by Terracorp Industries.

Three integrated prototype systems will go through half-year preliminaries across three different remote areas to evaluate their efficacy and suitability for arrangement in such environments.

This innovative project has gotten $485,000 in co-investment through the Northern Territory’s Advanced Manufacturing Ecosystem Fund, regulated by the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre.

Upon successful commercialisation, Melbourne-based Eco Identification focuses on producing 15% of its Ion-Q+ electronic systems in the Territory, with the possibility to raise assembly activities to 70 percent in four years or less.
