The Western Australian government has gone into exclusive negotiations with sustainable power proponents at Narngulu Modern Domain in Geraldton, WA for the development of the state’s most memorable green ammonia export plant.
Progressive Green Solutions, in an organisation with Samsung C&T and KOMIPO (Korean Midland Power Co), are proposing to fabricate a plant as most would consider to be usual to deliver as much as 1,000,000 tons of green ammonia per annum utilising sustainable hydrogen.
The project is supposed to assist with supporting the decarbonisation of power generation resources in South Korea, with the first shipments expected in 2027.
According to Energy Minister Bill Johnston, Western Australia is in a perfect position to provide the land, infrastructure, and expertise necessary for the development of large-scale projects utilising renewable hydrogen and green ammonia.
“With its exceptional renewable energy resources, the Mid-West is attracting significant global interest and investments from markets such as South Korea, Japan and Europe, seeking to support the decarbonisation of their economies,” said Johnston.
KOMIPO is a Korean Government possessed power organisation with an age limit of ~11GW, which is developing green hydrogen/ammonia to use in its owned power plants in Korea.
The state, through the modern estate developer Development WA, facilitated a land use answer to accommodate the project, making it ready for another environmentally friendly energy cluster in Geraldton.
Located 12 kilometres southeast of Geraldton, Narngulu Industrial Estate is a significant general modern region.
“Projects such as this are also expected to unlock significant local manufacturing and jobs in the Mid-West,” said Johnston.
As per the government proclamation, worldwide financial backers were drawn to the Mid-West region’s vast renewable energy potential.
