VTA reveals speaker line-up for Alternative Fuel Summit

The Victorian Transport Association has unveiled its high profile speaker line-up for the inaugural Alternative Fuel Summit.

VTA said it created the Alternative Fuel Summit, in partnership with Viva Energy Australia and CMV Truck and Bus, to evolve and shift towards a greener future through reducing emissions.

VTA revealed that the program for summit is taking shape with an exciting list of key speakers confirmed for the event, being held on Tuesday 23 August.

“The exciting new initiative will bring together key stakeholders from the transport and logistics industry, government, regulators and researchers, to explore how our industry can embrace alternate fuels while also meeting Australia’s growing freight needs,” said Peter Anderson, CEO at VTA.

“The transition to Alternative Fuels in the transport industry is quickly gathering pace and, with the new federal government setting more ambitious emissions reduction targets, it is essential operators understand their future in the heavy vehicle category,” Anderson said.

He also revealed that headlining the Summit is Victorian Minister for Energy and Environment Lily D’Ambrosio, who will update attendees on the Victorian Government’s strategies for supporting the transition to alternative fuels.

The Minister’s remarks will be complemented by Freight Victoria CEO Praveen Reddy, who will provide a more specific focus on the heavy vehicle sector and its uptake of alternative fuels.

“Co-event sponsor Viva Energy Australia has announced several significant investments in alternative fuels, and we are thrilled to welcome Chief Business Development & Sustainability Officer Lachlan Phiffer, Future\ Fuels Manager Sandra Lau, and Carbon Solutions Manager Rob Cavicchiolo to talk about how Viva is tackling the transition to alternative fuels, and its Geelong Hydrogen Station,” Anderson said.

“Vehicle servicing and fuel infrastructure is also critical part of the Alternative Fuels transition, so we are delighted to have VACC CEO Geoff Gwilym address the Summit on steps his organisation is taking to ensure continuity of resources throughout the fuel network during the transition,” he said.

VTA also said that other speakers from event co-sponsor CMV Truck and Bus, Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Hyzon Motors and SEA Electric will provide a comprehensive update on heavy vehicle equipment and technology being rolled out that embraces alternative fuels.
