WA and Federal Governments to open a greater number of Free TAFE places 

The WA State Government and the Australian Federal Government have pledged to give considerably more Expense Free TAFE and professional schooling and preparation (VET) to measure up to expectations and address abilities deficiencies. 

The federal governments have reported that a further 22,200 Charge Free TAFE and VET spots will be accessible for Western Australians from January 2024. 

During a declaration at Perth TAFE, Premier Roger Cook said the move is a “joint partnership” between the two governments.

“It continues the genuine collaboration and partnership between the Commonwealth and Western Australian governments to plug the skills gap and provide training opportunities for Australians.”

The Minister for Skills and Training Brendan O’Connor: ” Expense Free TAFE and VET has been such a triumph, the Albanese Government is focusing on a further 300,000 places starting one year from now, with 22,200 of those places in Western Australia. 

The governments are also aspiring to assist West Aussies with the cost for most everyday items in the event that they select need to concentrate on disciplines, as well as looking to allow each Australian an opportunity to get to “training opportunities” and to “plug the abilities gap”. 

“My Government has a track record on training – whether it’s slashing TAFE fees, delivering free courses, or investing almost $250 million into upgrades at TAFEs across the State,” Cook added. 

Expense Free places target areas of ability deficiency, for example, childhood education and care, medical services, aged and disability care; innovation and digital abilities, accommodation and the travel industry, development, farming, VET labour force, and the defence industry.
