Capral Aluminium received its first shipment from Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) with the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Chain of Custody (CoC) certification, which it described as a “significant milestone in sustainable sourcing”.

Capral announced that all 26 of its Australian facilities would be certified in ASI Performance Standard V3 and Chain of Custody (CoC) V2 for the extrusion, warehousing, and distribution of aluminium products and services.

The requirements for creating a Chain of Custody for material produced and processed along the value chain into various downstream sectors are outlined in the ASI CoC Standard.

“Capral embarked on the journey of ASI Performance and Chain of Custody Certification to offer Australian manufacturers, engineers, architects and builders who are working with our product confidence regarding the origins of their aluminium,” said the company’s Luke Hawkins.

As per a statement from Capral, the certificate guarantees that the aluminium in its items has been mindfully obtained and delivered to the most elevated ecological, social, and administration guidelines.

The CoC Standard demonstrates that responsible sourcing is supported by policies and due diligence procedures that identify and address critical issues like human rights violations, corruption, and materials originating from conflict-affected and high-risk supply chain regions.

CoC certificate is depicted as a universally perceived norm for responsible production, obtaining, and utilisation of aluminium, ensuring that all phases of the production process, from the extraction of raw materials to refining, purifying and production of essential aluminium billet, have been carried out responsibly and transparently.

“This is our first ASI CoC shipment into Australia, following an industry-leading move by Capral to achieve their own ASI Chain of Custody certification,” said Alba’s CEO Ali Al Baqali.
