Victoria leads food and fibre exports

Victoria is leading the country in worldwide food and fibre deals with soaring commodities supporting jobs and situating the state towards accomplishing a strategic objective years early.
Victorian farmers and food manufacturers have seen a 7 per cent expansion in export value, taking them all out to a record $19.6 billion.
By 2030, the state will be within reach of the $20 billion annual achievement in international sales of food and fibre set by the Victorian government. The objective was promised in the 2020 Agribusiness System when deals remained at $14.5 billion.
Grain was the state’s largest export in 2022-23, expanding 26 per cent to reach $5.6 billion in esteem, trailed by meat at $4.5 billion.
Food and fibre specialists expanded most of Victoria’s critical business sectors in 2022-23, driven by China, Japan, and the US. Huge upgrades are likewise seen in other key business sectors including Singapore, South Korea, and Indonesia.
“These results are a testament to the world-leading farmers and producers who deliver premium produce to pantries around the globe,” said acting minister for agriculture, Harriet Shing.
The Food and Fibre Export Performance Report for the years 2022–23 reveals the global standing of Victoria’s high-quality, safe, and sustainable produce as well as the capacity of food manufacturers and farmers to innovate and capitalize on new market opportunities.
“This report tells us how valuable our food and beverage manufacturing sector is to overseas markets and here at home, creating jobs and contributing to the state’s economic growth,” said Minister for Jobs and Industry, Natalie Hutchins.
