IAG appoints William McDonnell as new Chief Financial Officer

Insurance Australia Group Managing Director and CEO Scratch Hawkins has selected William McDonnell as IAG CFO effective 11 December 2023, dependent upon administrative endorsement. 

McDonnell has over 25 years of global experience across insurance, finance, capital business sectors, risk, administration, and guidelines. 

“William brings extensive experience in financial and capital markets to IAG, and a deep understanding of regulatory environments, finance, risk and climate risk,” said Managing Director and CEO, Nick Hawkins. 

During his time at RSA, Mr McDonnell additionally held senior finance and capital roles. He was the Group Director of Financial Reporting and Control, and Head of Financial Capital, Corporate Money and Capital Administration. 

“William brings extensive experience in financial and capital markets to IAG, and a deep understanding of regulatory environments, finance, risk and climate risk. 

His expertise in capital strategy identifying trends and managing climate risk in a global context will play an important part in creating a stronger and more resilient company. I look forward to welcoming William to IAG,” Hawkins added. 

McDonnell will join IAG from the global governance body, the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM), where he was the chief operating officer for quite a long time. During his experience with ICVCM, McDonnell assisted the association with turning into a standard for carbon credits and supervised the new arrival of the Centre Carbon Standards and rule book.
