MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is entering an alliance with Zim under a vessel-sharing settlement on a service that calls Australia.
The new Zao-Zim Asia Oceania administration would call Laem Chabang, Singapore, Tanjung Pelapas, Singapore, Jakarta, Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers.
“Our current Oceania services network will be restructured, in co-operation with MSC, to enhance reliability and strengthen our customer offerings,” said Zim EVP Intra-Asia, Danny Hoffman.
The declaration comes as Zim plans to rebuild three existing administrations in Oceania in October 2023.
Zim is as of now the tenth positioned container line, with a limit of 584,000 teu over a fleet of 134 ships, by far most of which are sanctioned, and has a huge order book of 38 long haul contracted vessels, with a minor capacity of 306,000 teu.
Expecting Zim has chosen to space charter with MSC for its new ZAO and ZOX administrations, the transporter would have to find new work for the ten 2,500-2,800 contract vessels that at present work on the destined-to-be-ceased loops.
The new Zox – Zim Oceania Express administration rotation is Singapore, Jakarta, Fremantle, Melbourne, Napier, Tauranga, Brisbane and Tanjung Pelepas.
MSC said its vessel-sharing agreement applies to the Panda administration, beginning in October 2023. The service would work with seven 5000-TEU vessels, four of which would be operated by MSC.
MSC said its Panda, Capricorn and Kiwi Express administrations would keep on offering direct types of assistance between Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
The transporter accepts the new Asia-Australasia VSA with MSC will fortify its situation in the region. Intra-Asia EVP Danny Hoffman said it was an “exciting new stage” for Zim.
