WA offers more jobs in the new Babcock deal 

To boost the state’s maritime defence industry and create more local jobs, the government of Western Australia has signed a memorandum of understanding with the British defence giant Babcock Australasia.      

At the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson as well as at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island, the partnership is anticipated to assist the state government in the creation of high-paying, skilled jobs for decades. 

“Babcock is a top-tier submarine defence company with a global reputation and expertise across the nuclear submarine lifecycle,” Training and Workforce Development Minister, Simone McGurk. 

At Henderson and Osborne, both in South Australia, Babcock currently provides Collins-class submarine fleet support and maintenance services. As part of the Warship Asset Management Agreement, it also ensures that the Australian Anzac Class Frigates will continue to be maintained. 

“This deal will help our Government create highly paid, professionally trained jobs to assist with the AUKUS partnership,” McGurk added. 

Babcock’s work in Western Australia is conveyed through the help of 500 little and medium ventures. The most recent MOU between the state and Babcock is supposed to give chances to significantly more WA-based SMEs to turn out to be important for the company’s international supply chain.
