Australia Post unfolds new parcel facility

Australia Post officially opened its most recent parcel office in Avalon, Victoria to help e-commerce business development across the district in front of the bustling Christmas period. 

Strategically situated close to the airport and near key business clients inside the new industrial park, the Avalon Parcel Facility has been carefully built to help the developing populace of the Greater Geelong region, one of the two quickest developing regions in regional Australia. 

Australia Post CEO and Managing Director Paul Graham says the new office features Australia Post’s endeavours to proceed with bundle development as additional Australians keep shopping online, especially in the number one spot up to Christmas. 

“This modern facility is another key milestone for Australia Post and an important investment in our future as growth in e-commerce continues,” Graham said. 

The office is 14,000 sqm and can handle 40,000 packages each day, with the ability to extend to 60,000 parcels each day. 

With over 150 colleagues, the office has been working to help handle package and mail, pick-up and delivery, as well as transport and line haul tasks. 

“Being close to Avalon Airport and having access to key transport links will ensure we can deliver efficiently through our network, which is great news for our customers, particularly as we approach the busiest time of year for online shopping,” Graham added. 

Australia Post will likewise endeavour mail handling, including letters and little packages, for the City of Greater Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula and remote regions, with a normal of 30,000 letters and 7000 little parcels delivered inside this catchment every week.
