La Trobe launches new digital innovation hub to enhance industrial skills 

La Trobe University has formally opened the Digital Innovation Hub, an advanced innovation precinct that will speed up research and development in critical areas, including manufacturing. 

Minister for Skills and TAFE Gayle Tierney, who went to the launch of the Digital Innovation Hub today, said offices like the centre allow students to test and work on their abilities while assisting organisations with handling certifiable difficulties. 

“Victoria is an innovation powerhouse and as international leaders in research and development, our universities play a crucial role in our state’s success,” Tierney said.

Developed in a partnership with global technology pioneers Cisco and Optus, the Digital Innovation Hub will offer the remarkable technology ability for a greater joint effort between students, researchers, businesses, and the industry. 

Situated at La Trobe’s Bundoora campus, the new centre point includes Optus’ 5G availability and is the first of its sort in Australia to have Cisco’s Webex Hologram technology. 

The office will act as an all-in-one resource for big business and government associations, students, startups, and Victorian businesses to develop, improve and transform together. 

La Trobe Vice-Chancellor John Dewar complimented the foundation of the purpose-built centre, saying that it concretes the university’s situation as a forerunner in tech developments that are pertinent to enterprises all over the globe. 

“The Digital Innovation Hub builds on the University’s deep connection to business, creating a catalyst for new research and commercial developments that could transform sectors like healthcare, education, and telecommunications. It offers real-time opportunities for our students, academics and businesses to collaborate and innovate,” Dewar said.
