National essential power and communications infrastructure provider GenusPlus Group has been awarded a contract by Synergy to undertake the Civil and Electrical Balance of Plant works for the KBESS2 250 MVA/1000 MWh battery storage facility situated in Kwinana.

Genus Managing Director David Riches displayed excitement for the chance to add to Synergy’s leadership in Western Australia’s change toward a cleaner, more dependable, and practical energy system.

The agreement, valued at roughly $90 million, surrounds early works and is scheduled for completion toward the finish of 2024, the ASX-listed company said.

The communication and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, roads, waste works, pre-action deluge dry pipe sprinkler system, and firewater supply system are vital parts of the comprehensive contract.

“Genus is pleased to have been selected by Synergy for the Project following on from the work Genus performed at KBESS1,” Riches said.

The projects stretch out to the installation and commissioning of Power Conversion Systems, containing inverters/chargers, transformers, and Ring Main Units.

The auxiliary substations, highlighting LV distribution boards, 33/0.415 kV transformers, and RMUs will also be essential for the BOP Works.

“We welcome the opportunity to continue to work with Synergy on these exciting projects and to develop our relationship with Synergy, and look forward to delivering the Project safely and successfully for all parties,” Riches added.
