Sea Lead Shipping has marked its first entry into the Australian market with the launch of the Sino Australia Express (SAE) service, which will link ports in China directly to ports in Australia.

The new weekly service will be deployed on March 10, 2022, with the first sailing from Qingdao.

The new Australia-China service will be served by six ships with an average capacity of 3,900 TEUs. The ships will be deployed in a vessel-sharing agreement partnership between Sea Lead, Pacific International Lines, T.S. Lines, and Yang Ming.

Port rotation for the SAE will be: Qingdao – Shanghai – Nansha – Shekou – Sydney – Melbourne – Brisbane – Qingdao.

“We are delighted to introduce this new service in response to demand from our customers,” said Cho Kit Wei, Managing Director at Sea Lead.

“We are confident that the market in Oceania will respond well to this new, express service, and we look forward to developing strong partnerships on this trade lane,” Wei said.

Early in March, the shipping line also launched a service connecting East Asia to the east coast of the United States. The weekly service commenced on March 7, 2022, with the first sailing from Nansha.

The Asia East Coast (AEC) from Sea Lead is also its first regular service to east coast US and will be served by four ships with an average capacity of 6,100 TEUs.

The company said it is aiming at deploying a fortnightly rotation in the near future, while looking at possible vessel sharing arrangements with partners to further improve the frequency of the service.

Sea-Lead Shipping is a privately owned global shipping liner founded in 2017 and headquartered in Singapore.

The Australia-China service from Sea Lead is the latest addition to its existing services that cover the Far East to the United States, India, Middle East, Mediterranean, and Europe, and will see further expansion in the near future.
